Housing and Development Corporation was founded in 1999 and has since
emerged as an affordable housing leader in Wakeland
is a nonprofit (501(c)3) corporation that develops, acquires and rehabs
quality affordable housing. We work with a variety of municipalities,
developers and redevelopment agencies throughout Wakeland's Board of Directors is comprised of affordable housing, community, and business leaders. Wakeland's emergence as a player in the affordable housing arena is due in large part to a highly qualified staff and well-rounded Board of Directors. Wakeland was founded by individuals who were concerned about the lack of affordable housing. The high cost of housing for most working families was a major barrier in the effort to move out of poverty. Wakeland
Housing and Development Corporation has an impressive track record of meeting
the critical need of affordable housing. Wakeland utilizes federal, state
and local funding resources including tax exempt
bonds, tax credits and leveraging other funds from the private and public
sector. Wakeland was formed to develop affordable housing and provide
service programs, which together offer a unique
opportunity for families and individuals to obtain success.
