Wakeland works closely with residents to develop effective Learning Centers in each development. These centers provide residents with opportunities for fun, personal growth and job skill development. Several of the centers are Neighborhood Networks, a community-based program funded by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development and designed to bring technology to affordable housing sites. Wakeland believes we have a responsibility to provide more than just bricks and mortar. Youth programs provide education support, activities and sports with a goal of providing positive alternatives and strong role models for children of all ages. Adult programs in learning centers strive to provide people with practical skills in computers and literacy that will increase their financial stability.
Underlying Wakeland's resident
services is a strong belief in the potential of families living in our housing.
We seek out residents' input and guidance in tailoring services to meet
their needs and interests. And we do
so with respect and compassion.
