Adult residents have a myriad of skill-enhancement resources and social activities available to them.

Open Computer Lab and Computer Basics Classes

The computer lab is available throughout the week for resident use.  Each computer station has Internet access and software that supports the basic word processing needs of residents.  Staff is generally available to answer basic questions and provide one-on-one support.

Staff provides instruction in basic computer skills including Word and Internet search that can increase computer literacy skills needed for school, employment or personal growth.  These classes also offer first-time computer users an introduction to technology and keyboarding skills.

Job Readiness Workshops

Workshops are offered to support residents in job search and job skill development.  Topics may include:

  1. Writing a letter of introduction
  2. Writing a winning resume
  3. How to keep a job
  4. Interviewing techniques

Language Skill Development

Residents improve and develop language skills through English as a Second Language (ESL) courses in the learning centers. These courses are also offered on-line.

Community Events

Community events occur throughout the year as a way for residents to meet each other and learn about new programs offered by Resident Services.  Events may include:  weekly Bingo, monthly potlucks, seasonal parties, health fairs, movie nights and ice cream socials.
