Connection Found Through Staff and Programming
Retired career Marine, Neil Waters and wife, Bessie Waters have lived in Poinsettia Mobile Home Park for 12 years; pleased with the feelings of safety and security they find at the property. Bessie notes “the lighting and nice neighbors” as main contributors, adding, “We all look out for each other and we feel okay going away if we need to.” They have found these neighborly relationships to be nurtured by the Resident Services staff and programming on site.
Neil has noticed “Wakeland staff gives an ear to listen to what residents have to say and act in a way that is responsive to resident needs.”
Neil can be found at the business center in the Senior Clubhouse on a regular basis. He says, “I am in here a lot using the connection to the internet,” as Bessie echoes, “having it right here saves us in our monthly bills.”
Additionally, the two long-time residents of Poway have experienced a greater connection to the city through the close proximity of the property to transportation, medical care, and shopping and also Wakeland’s annual hosting of the Senior Thanksgiving Dinner available to all seniors living in affordable housing located in the City of Poway. |
