Wakeland facilitates an award-wining after-school education and enrichment program for youth ages 7-17.

Homework Assistance

Youth can get support in completing difficult assignments and routine homework.  This is also an opportunity to encourage leadership by connecting older youth with younger youth in a tutoring environment.

Arts and Crafts

Wakeland nurtures the creative energy of our youth residents through various arts and craft projects.  Materials are always available for youth to use during “free time” as a self-selected activity.

Computer Lab

Youth have monitored use of computers with Internet access.  Guided instruction in the use of basic word processing and educational software gives youth new skills to help them complete homework, research papers or create special interest projects.

Sports Club

Youth experience team play as well as learn the rules of different sports such as basketball, football, softball and soccer.  Community volunteers often teach sports clinics.

Teen Night

Youth residents ages 12-15 are able to participate in selected activities, which include movies with popcorn, special guest speakers, music and games.
