Job Description
The Mobility Access Coordinator supports residents of Wakeland communities in accessing safe, affordable, and reliable transportation options. This position helps residents navigate bus and transit systems, access parking resources, and participate in mobility programs that improve their ability to get to work, school, and essential services.
The coordinator also helps implement and oversee the Mobility Access Program (MAP) — Wakeland’s initiative to make low-car living practical and successful in transit-oriented affordable housing communities. The position combines resident outreach, program coordination, and partnership management to help remove transportation barriers that affect housing stability.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Promote the Mobility Access Program to residents and community partners.
- Help residents sign up for bus pass, parking, or rideshare programs; track participation and feedback.
- Provide one-on-one and group education to residents on how to use local transit options (e.g., bus, trolley, Pronto system).
- Identify residents’ transportation needs and connect them with available supports or resources.
- Maintain accurate records of participant enrollment, payments, and usage.
- Develop positive working relationships with community partners, such as MTS, SANDAG, Circulate San Diego, and nearby parking facilities.
- Assist with shared-use parking agreements, including communication with residents and partner sites.
- Pilot and help evaluate new mobility initiatives such as vanpools, carpools, and shuttle partnerships.
- Support outreach and communication efforts, including flyers, workshops, and resident newsletters.
- Provide periodic reports and updates to the Resident Services Manager.

- Strong customer service orientation; enjoys helping people problem-solve.
- Creative and resourceful in finding transportation solutions.
- Comfortable working independently and in the community.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and data entry).
- Bilingual or multilingual preferred, especially in Spanish, Somali, or Vietnamese.
- Knowledge of San Diego’s transit systems, parking, or mobility programs is helpful but not required.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One or more years of experience in community outreach, customer service, transportation, or resident services preferred.
Working Conditions
- Regular travel between Wakeland properties and nearby community sites required.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Occasional evening or weekend events may be required to meet with residents or partners.
