After School Program Assistant - San Diego

Job Description
Under the direction of the Resident Services Manager, provides support to various after school programs by assisting the resident services coordinator with implementing organized social, recreational and enrichment activities, programs and workshops for school-aged youth residents, ensuring a safe and positive environment.


Qualifications​
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a basic knowledge and understanding of school aged children.
  • Be a self-starter and perform job with little supervision.
  • Possess the ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet search engines.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must hold certificate for Mandated Reporter in Child Abuse or be able to attain one.
  • Must hold certificate for CPR and Mental Health First Aid or be able to attain one.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing educational, recreational and enrichment activities.
  • Supervise and engage with youth residents to ensure safety and participation.
  • Provide homework help and academic support when needed.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Communicate effectively with youth, staff and parents as needed.
  • Support program goals and policies in a professional manner.
  • Organize and clean center (sometimes lifting items that may weigh up to 40 lbs).
  • Address behavioral issues using positive reinforcement and redirection.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Hours 
  • City Heights Square: Tuesday and Thursday, 2pm - 6pm
  • Village Townhomes: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 2pm – 6pm

Starting Compensation
$23 per hour
