Background & Design: Serenade on 43rd is a welcoming affordable housing community in San Diego’s City Heights neighborhood. Completed in 2024, it features studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments within a mid-century modern design that blends newly constructed and renovated homes into one cohesive community. Residents enjoy open courtyards, family-friendly spaces, and amenities such as a community room, computer lab, and tot lot—creating a vibrant place to live, grow, and connect. The name Serenade on 43rd was inspired by Tom Waits’ song “San Diego Serenade,” celebrating harmony, healing, and the spirit of togetherness. Financing Sources:
