Kim Duran
Senior Project Manager
Kim Duran brings well-rounded expertise in all aspects of affordable housing to Wakeland from her two decades of work in the sector, which includes high-level positions in development, asset management and financing. As Senior Project Manager, Ms. Duran uses her considerable experience to oversee development of Wakeland’s affordable housing communities through all phases of planning, construction and lease-up.
She started her career as a LISC AmeriCorps member specializing in Community Development at the MAAC Project in San Diego and then became a Project Manager at Community HousingWorks. Later, she moved to Los Angeles, where she spent more than a decade working in development and asset management for Mercy Housing.
Among Ms. Duran’s accomplishments, she has secured $250 million in financing for affordable housing, completed 18 developments on time and on budget, and overseen asset management for 38 properties with over 2,300 units.
Ms. Duran is a graduate of the LISC Housing Development Training Institute and has attended several Neighborhood Reinvestment Training Institutes and seminars sponsored by the San Francisco Federal Home Loan Bank (Affordable Housing Program), the Tax Credit Allocation Committee and the San Diego Housing Commission. She is also a frequent speaker and panelist who has appeared at a diverse array of industry events including the Nonprofit Federation for Housing and Community Development conference, the MAFO National Farm Worker conference and graduate-level courses at the University of California, San Diego.
Ms. Duran holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
