John Sugden
Project Manager
John Sugden has extensive knowledge of affordable housing development that spans nearly a decade of work in the industry. In that time, he has established a reputation of success, assembling financing and assisting in the development of more than 1,500 units of new construction and rehabilitation affordable housing throughout Southern California and New Mexico.
Mr. Sugden joined Wakeland as a Project Manager in 2018 and is responsible for managing select development projects from the initial feasibility stages through completion and stabilization.
Previously, he worked for Chelsea Investment Corporation as an Assistant Project Manager. Prior to that, Mr. Sugden spent more than five years working in various capacities with other affordable housing developers and technical assistance organizations, gaining expertise in acquisitions, bond and tax-credit financing, density-bonus land-use regulations, entitlement processing and federal and state environmental regulations.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles.
