Michelle Rocha
Senior Asset Manager
Michelle Rocha is Wakeland’s Senior Asset Manager, working closely with property management to ensure that operational, physical and mission-driven goals for the portfolio are achieved. She has extensive knowledge of the processes and procedures for operating successful affordable housing communities, including skills in managing budgets, overseeing preventative and day-to-day maintenance, fostering good tenant relations, and keeping properties in compliance with the complex layers of affordable housing and fair housing regulations. As Senior Asset Manager, Ms. Rocha supports other Asset Managers with their duties, assists with insurance and legal issues, works on cash and replacement reserves, approves property budgets, and interfaces with lenders/investors and other external communications.
Ms. Rocha came to Wakeland with more than a decade of experience in residential property management, primarily as a Community Manager for ConAm Management. In that capacity, she managed Wakeland’s award-winning Los Vecinos community in Chula Vista, CA, from the time it opened in 2009 until early 2018. Under her management, Los Vecinos became a standout property in the Wakeland portfolio, providing high-quality, well-maintained affordable housing for 42 low-income households with residents who experienced many personal and professional successes during their time at the property.
Ms. Rocha holds an Associate in Arts degree in Business Administration from Southwestern College. When she’s not working, she enjoys the great San Diego weather, spending time biking the Coronado strand, hiking Cowles Mountain or rollerblading on Mission Bay.
