WAKELAND WELCOMES NEW DIRECTOR OF ACQUISITIONS Wakeland would like to wish a warm welcome to Tim Wray, our new Director of Acquisitions. Tim has a long history in successful acquisition of multifamily affordable housing, and spent the bulk of his career with Fairfield Residential. He’ll be utilizing that expertise in his new role with Wakeland, taking the lead in identifying and pursuing property acquisitions throughout the Western United States. 2016 GREEN HOMES TOUR FEATURES LOFTS ON LANDIS Lofts on Landis proudly opened its doors to the community in November as part of the San Diego Green Building Council’s annual Green Homes Tour. The LEED Platinum certified property in Chula Vista, Calif., was one of only two multifamily housing communities included on the tour, which provided an inside look at green home design features in residential developments across San Diego County. U.S. BANK GIVES $20K TO WAKELAND’S RESIDENT PROGRAMS Many thanks to the generous folks at U.S. Bank, who recently gave $20,000 to Wakeland in support of our resident financial literacy programs. The funding will go toward Wakeland’s Creating Opportunities for Resident Enrichment (CORE) program, a specialized division of our resident services that focuses on strengthening resident financial literacy and opportunity through workshops, education and one-on-one consultations. A HISTORIC WIN FOR HOME FRONT AT CAMP ANZA Wakeland’s efforts to preserve a part of WWII military history are garnering national recognition. Home Front at Camp Anza, a community we built on the former site of the U.S. Army’s Camp Anza training camp in Riverside, Calif., has won a J. Timothy Anderson Award for Excellence in Historic Rehabilitation from the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA). The Home Front at Camp Anza project rehabilitated Camp Anza’s former Officers Club, turning it into a community center for residents. It was the only property from the Western part of the United States to receive an award in NH&RA’s annual competition. Read more here… |
