SAN DIEGO - The first three months of 2021 have brought a flurry of development activity to Wakeland, with new communities breaking ground and opening across Southern California.
In late January, we celebrated the grand opening of The Grove, a new community for seniors in downtown Vista, California. More than 100 seniors live at the property, which is located close to grocery stores, a local senior center and many other resources that residents use daily.
Earlier this month, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti joined Wakeland for a “virtual groundbreaking” for Amani Apartments, our second supportive housing community in mid-city L.A. When it opens, Amani will have 53 homes for formerly homeless seniors age 55 and older, who will benefit from stable housing and comprehensive onsite services provided by The People Concern.
