Construction Moves Ahead on 'The Grove'by Wakeland Staff
November 22, 2019 VISTA, Calif. - Construction is chugging along on The Grove, a new community of affordable homes for low income seniors that Wakeland is developing in downtown Vista, California. When it opens next fall, the community will have 81 one- and two-bedroom homes for seniors age 62 and older combined with complimentary onsite programs that can enhance residents' quality of life and help them remain independent as they age. General contractor Sun Country Builders has just started framing on the second floor of the three-story complex, which broke ground last spring at a site that will give future residents easy access to public transportation, grocery stories, the library and the senior center. In addition to 81 senior apartments, The Grove will have abundant green space, outdoor gathering areas and a community room where residents will be able to participate in activities such as computer workshops, exercise programs, holiday gatherings and social clubs. The Grove was designed by Dahlin Group Architecture and Planning with funding provided by the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, the City of Vista, Wells Fargo, CCRC, LIIF, CTCAC and FHL Bank San Francisco's AHP program. |
