WAKELAND GIVES BACK: Helping the Formerly HomelessDecember 1, 2014
Members of Wakeland’s staff recently took some time to help People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) in their efforts to give homeless San Diegans a safe and welcoming place to call home. Volunteers spent a lunch hour assembling more than 100 “Welcome Home Kits” full of the essentials for setting up a new apartment – including kitchenware, towels and laundry supplies. The kits will be given to formerly homeless San Diegans who are moving into their own homes after successfully transitioning off the streets or out of shelters. Wakeland first became involved with PATH's "Welcome Home Kit" program earlier this year when we were the first organization to contribute funding for the kits during San Diego's kick off of the 25 Cities Initiative, an effort to place more than 150 veterans and 100 chronically homeless individuals into permanent homes. |
