The Chesterfield provides 42 supportive homes in South L.A. for seniors age 55+ who have experienced homelessness. These affordable homes are coupled with robust support services that help residents live more stable, independent lives. This model is known as "Housing First" and has been proven as an effective solution for homelessness, helping some U.S. communities reduce chronic homelessness by as much as 90 percent.
The design includes 42 studio apartments, one two-bedroom manager's unit, a community room, a laundry room and office space. A ground floor patio and landscaped rooftop terrace with seating areas provides space for socializing outdoors.
Background & Status:
The Chesterfield opened in September 2022. The property is located close to transit, grocers, a library and other community amenities that serve the needs of seniors.
