Viviana Arellano
Project Manager
Viviana Arellano brings a unique perspective to her role as Project Manager for Wakeland, with more than 20 years of experience as an architectural designer specializing in affordable housing communities. That experience includes a decade and a half working for San Diego’s leading architecture firm for affordable housing design, where she oversaw several affordable multifamily projects simultaneously at various stages from design development to construction administration.
Arellano served as Senior Project Manager and was instrumental to the design of 15 award-winning affordable housing communities, including four Gold Nugget Grand Award winners and four San Diego Housing Federation Ruby Award winners.
In her current role at Wakeland, Arellano uses her accrued knowledge of affordable housing design, building codes and funding requirements to manage projects through all phases of development and construction. She coordinates the efforts of diverse teams of consultants, contractors and development partners to create affordable housing that meets the needs of the communities Wakeland serves.
Her early experience in the housing field included Architectural Associate positions at architecture firms in Oakland and South Pasadena, California.
Arellano holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture with a focus in Housing and Community Development and a minor in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley.
Outside of work, Arellano is an avid fix-it-upper who enjoys working with her hands on home improvement projects like aviaries, patios and hanging gardens. She has also given back to the community over the years by hosting at-risk teens and families in her home to help them get on their feet – assisting them with school, learning English, and finding jobs and homes.
