Wakeland Wins Three Ruby Awardsby Wakeland Staff
May 16, 2019 SAN DIEGO - Wakeland walked away with three much-coveted Ruby Awards for excellence in affordable housing at the San Diego Housing Federation’s annual honors on May 16, 2019. Wakeland Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Louie won the Innovations Award for her work establishing the Supportive Housing Learning Network, a new training program designed to equip property management staff at supportive housing developments with tools and resources that help them run successful communities. The Allison, a partnership between Wakeland and Housing Innovation Partners, received the CSH Supportive Housing Award. This recently-renovated community provides 58 affordable homes and support services for special needs San Diegans. The Allison was also honored as the Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Retrofit of the year for the upgrades made during renovation to promote sustainability and reduce energy use to net zero, which included installing energy-conserving appliances and lighting, low-flow water fixtures, and an 87.1 kilowatt rooftop solar array.
