SAN DIEGO - Our team is growing! Due to recent expansions, we’ve hired five development and accounting personnel to grow our resources and manage new projects:
- Wakeland’s former Board Chair, Elizabeth Bluhm, has joined our staff as Senior Project Manager. Bluhm has more than 20 years of experience in affordable housing finance. She headed the low income housing tax credit group and the San Diego Office of national multifamily lender Red Capital Group. As Senior Project Manager, she manages all phases of development on select projects.
- David Hetherington has returned to Wakeland as Development Director after working as a Senior Project Manager with Skid Row Housing Trust in Los Angeles, where he focused on supportive housing development. From 2009 to 2016, he served as a Wakeland Project Manager, overseeing five developments with a total of 250 units. In his new role, Hetherington is working on Wakeland’s geographic expansion with new projects in Los Angeles County and New Mexico.
- New Project Manager Cameron Shariati is an accomplished affordable housing project manager who has worked in the development of more than 2,000 units of new construction and rehabilitation affordable housing in San Diego County over his career, including time spent at the San Diego Housing Commission.
- Staff Accountant William Kettler has nearly a decade of experience in economics and accounting, with a focus on data management. Since coming to Wakeland, he has played a key role in streamlining accounting procedures, creating a Wakeland database and implementing paperless invoice processing.
- Finally, Ryutaro Matsushita is a recent National University graduate with a wide range of accounting skills who was hired as Staff Accountant and now provides essential support for accounting processes across our organization, including billing, general ledgers and schedules.
“We are excited to round out our team with the skills and talents that these new staff bring to the table,” said Wakeland President and CEO Ken Sauder. “With these five talented individuals on board, Wakeland is uniquely positioned to capitalize on a number of promising new opportunities to create quality affordable and supportive housing in California.”
